Diary Of A Snoopy Cat by R.F. Kristi is a children’s book that includes fun, adventure, and the importance of working as a team. The book follows Inca, a Siberian cat, and her friends while they try to solve a mystery that only they can solve. The story takes place in the days leading up to Christmas as Inca and her friends try to crack the case before Christmas Day so that they can enjoy being together for the holiday with no worries. As they climb over walls, get chased by crazy neighbors, try to protect themselves in their own home, and await the arrival of a long lost loved one, the story is told from Inca’s point of view. As each character is introduced, Inca explains to the reader who they are and how they pertain to the story. I was glad to see that the book did a very thorough job of laying out the very unique background of each character. Inca and her group of friends consist of mischievous cats, dogs, and a helpful little hamster.
The book has many messages and lessons that I think would be good for young readers to learn. At a few points during the book, Inca is portrayed as being very selfish, wanting the spotlight to only be on her. This is not a trait that anyone should be proud to have. However, there are also lessons of teamwork, learning to be humble, and not judging someone before you get to know them. These are some lessons that I personally would like for my future littles to learn.
In my opinion, the author did a wonderful job of laying the story out in an easy to follow format. The story-line itself was very well written. I loved seeing how the characters in the story handled the situations in ways that surprised me. This book includes adventure, friendship, life lessons, travel and so much more.
As I was reading and following the story of these friends as they deal with two main events that take place, I was pulled into that world. I could see each scene as if it were a movie in my head. Overall, I think this book is a great choice when reaching for a children’s book.
I know I’ll be reaching for quite a few children’s books over the next chapter of my life. So, I thought it would be nice to have a children’s book be my first “review” for my new Reading Corner – Blog section.
Let me know if you check it out!
Lots of Love,
