My Favorite Spring Activities

Spring has definitely sprung y’all! When I took my daily walk this morning, the sun was shining and the flowers smelled so lovely. Morning walks are absolutely one of my favorite things to do, especially in the spring when the weather is just right. Spring always makes me want to DO things… clean, cook, get outside, etc. It’s like the weather gives my body/spirit a boost that it’s been lacking all winter… anyone relate??

Ever since I was little, I remember doing so many activities as a family. Today, I’d like to share 10 of my favorite Springtime Activities with you. Let me know if you enjoy doing these things as well!

#1 – Local Farmer’s Market

I love, love, love visiting the local farmer’s market. You are guaranteed fresh produce that hasn’t been “messed” with. Plus, you are supporting local farmers and to me, it feels so good knowing that.

#2 – Outdoor walk/hike

Like I said above, walking outside in the mornings is one of my favorite things to do in the springtime. I also love finding a good trail, maybe in the mountains somewhere and just spending some time in nature.

#3 – Bake!

Spend a little time in your kitchen and bake up some cupcakes! Have fun decorating them with your favorite pastel colors!

Just make a basic vanilla buttercream, divide it into 2-3 small bowls and add tiny drops of different colored food coloring to each bowl until the icing reaches your favorite “springy” colors!

#4 – Gardening

There is no better time to begin planting things than right at the beginning of spring in my book. I’ve already got a couple of aloe vera plants, a few flower pots beginning to blossom, and a few other gardening ideas planned out! I feel like, as I get older, I will definitely spend more time gardening. It’s kind of therapeutic in a way.

#5 – Spring Cleaning

It’s called spring cleaning for a reason y’all! Get your Pine-sol (or cleaner of choice) out and spend a day or morning cleaning everything. This is one of the things I actually enjoy doing at least once a month, sometimes twice, during the warmer months but I’m a clean freak. I sweep & mop everywhere, wash all sheets, pillow cases, protectors, everything, dust everything… like the energizer bunny, just go go go. It usually takes me the morning and most of the afternoon, but I feel so accomplished afterwards and the house smells AH-Mazing!

#6 – DIY Crafts

Crafts can be so much fun for the whole family. There are so many things that can be done. Here are a few – turn a wood pallet into a little flower garden, buy some beautiful faux flowers and make your own wreath, grab a couple of yards of your favorite spring fabric and create some throw pillows for your home! These are just a few ideas that can get your creative juices flowing this Spring!

#7 – Paddle Boat Ride

This is one of my absolute favorite things to do in the spring. The sun is usually out, but it’s not too hot which is perfect weather in my opinion. Go to a nice lake or somewhere they rent out paddle boats, and just enjoy yourself. The scenery is epic, especially if you go somewhere in or near the mountains!

#8 – Picnic In The Park

This one is a classic for a reason ladies and gents! Pack some of your favorite goodies and sandwiches (or fancy things up with Honey Baked Ham / Panera Bread goodies), find a park or open field somewhere, lay down a blanket and enjoy being in nature. Take some friends and/or your significant other with you and toss around a Frisbee or Volleyball.

Just enjoy the beautiful weather God is bringing our way this season!

#9 – Bike Riding

I don’t usually spend much time on a bicycle these days. I remember before I learned to drive, my bike was everything! Well, sometimes it is nice to rent a bike for the day and just ride. Ride along the beach or just into town, or those mountains where you park at the bottom and a bus takes you and your bike to the top and you ride back down to your car. That sounds like a good time for sure! There’s just something about being on a bike… I love it.

#10 – Host A Backyard BBQ

Go all out! You can even get décor from your local Dollar Store or Walmart! Red and white checkered table cloths, colorful disposable utensils, red napkins, yellow sunflower centerpieces in mason jars, themed paper plates (heavy duty kind please!) etc. Cook up all your favorite foods or make it a potluck where everyone brings their favorite dish!

Make it your own and have fun with it! Play your favorite music, have different games set up (corn-hole anyone?) Invite all your friends (with at least 2 weeks notice) and have a ball!

  1. I love being able to go on walks again too and enjoy the fresh air. I haven’t done a nice family picnic in the park since last year. I need to get one planned.

    1. Hi Alice! Thanks for reading! And yes, the fresh air these days is so nice. We have a nice breeze here, I’m hoping it sticks around once summer hits!
