Well, it is officially Baby H’s expected due date today and he is not here yet. We are anxiously waiting to meet him. Just the thought of how our lives are about to change in such a huge way. It’s a little overwhelming.

Sometimes, I honestly can’t believe that I’ve made it to this stage in my life. I remember 5 years ago, when I met Hubby, and I think of how far we’ve come since then. Everything we’ve been through, and boy have we been through it. I know everyone has their journey, but I’ll admit, at some points throughout our journey I thought we were just on a very bad, pothole-filled, get stuck in the mud, a tree fell in front of us by inches kind of detour from what life was “supposed” to be like. Anyone else ever feel that way sometimes?

I am very proud and happy to say that whatever life threw at us, we pulled together and made it to the other side stronger than we were before. That is something that I knew then and I still know now makes us special. Now that we are about to begin this new journey of parenting together, I pray that we will pull together like we have countless times before and that we will give this little one the best possible life that we can.

Whew, well that’s that.

Now for the reason you are all here! I’ve officially made it to Week 40 of my first pregnancy journey! I can’t believe it! It feels like just yesterday we found out that we were expecting this little pumpkin and now he could be here with us any day. I’ve pretty much been pregnant this entire year so far and that just blows my mind.

I am so excited to have Baby H here with us for my favorite time of year though. Halloween (if he comes before then!), Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, everything this year will be our first as a family of 3 and I, well, I’m just so darn excited! LOL.

So, let’s get into the actual “Bumpdate” shall we?

How Far Along: 40 weeks!

Baby Weight: 8.75 lbs

Dr. Visits: Dr. has told us to call him when Baby H is ready to come. If he is not here by next Wednesday then we will go in to see him.

Maternity Clothes?  NOTHING FITS! My bump has grown and even dropped so much that even big t-shirts hardly cover the bottom part of my belly.

Stretch Marks? Yes! The lower part of my belly still itches and the stretch marks have “bubbled up”. It’s very strange, they can’t really be seen, but I can feel them!

Sleep:  Sleep is pretty much non-existent. I sleep on and off a couple of hours at a time maybe. Then I just wake up, usually due to pain or having to go to the bathroom. I basically get a couple of good naps in and that’s about it lol.

Best moment this week:  Getting the most relaxing massage ever from the Hubby today. Nothing too extensive, but it sure felt like I was at a spa! My feet, legs, back, arms, and hands. Lordy mercy I could get use to that!

Miss Anything? I still miss just generally being comfortable. I also miss having normal sized feet! Even my flip-flops struggle to contain my feet these days!

Movement: Baby Boy still gets the hiccups about 2-3 times a day. He pushes out on my left side mostly. If it’s any indication, then he is definitely going to be a strong little man. When he pushes out like that my stomach gets all contorted and it is quite Painful!

Food Cravings: This past week, I’ve really been wanting nuts. Mostly cashews and pistachios.

Anything making you queasy or sick? Nothing specific. I have been getting random bits of nausea a couple of times a day though.

Labor Signs: I don’t think so. My mom and mommy-friends say I will know when the contractions start. So going off of that, I haven’t noticed anything as of 3:45pm on October 23rd. (right now)

Belly button in or out? It’s still not sticking out, although it has stretched and is VERY soft. A weird kind of soft that Hubby even thinks is odd lol.

Wedding rings on or off? I still wear my wedding band every day. Engagement ring and promise ring will have to wait until the swelling goes down though.

Exercise: Mostly just a little walking each day, my feet stay swollen so I kind of try to balance how long I stay on my feet with how much I rest and elevate them. I also do some stretching each day and the occasional silly dance battles between Hubby and me 🙂

Looking forward to: Still looking forward to holding Baby H in our arms and just having him here with us <3

I believe that is all for this Bumpdate! Hopefully the next little update with be all about our newborn and how he came into this world.

Lots Of Love,

~ Ray

  2. Wow, congrats on making it to 40 weeks! I think I made it to 40 weeks with my son, but I can’t distinctly remember. It’s so exciting that Baby H will be here for all of the upcoming holidays.
