It's Time To Swim Again

Whew, this past week has been a whirlwind! It is officially time to swim again here in our neck of the woods! We took baby Baby Boy out to the pool and he splashed around so much and thoroughly enjoyed himself. It warms my heart to see Baby Boy in the pool and loving it. Just like I did when I was a baby. I was born in Feb, so my first time in water (I believe) was at the ocean in Charleston, SC. I was only about 3 or 4 months old! My grandparents have pictures and say that I loved the water more than they expected. Legend has it that on this particular trip everyone got sick except for me! Weird fact but yeah, that was my first experience with water.

Baby Boy has always loved the water ever since his first bath. I love that he loves it. We will probably be out there every single day this summer. Being in or near the water is literally my most favorite thing to do during the warmer months. I do love living in a place that has a swimming pool just feet from my front door. It is probably the closest I’ve ever come to having my own pool in my adult life and it’s perfect timing since I now have Baby Boy to share my love of swimming with.

While we are out at the pool Baby Boy usually falls asleep after about 30 minutes of swimming. On these occasions, I will put him in his stroller beside the pool, locked of course, and I will hop back into the pool for a few minutes. I’m never far, so no worries. I usually just lounge right at the edge, beside the stroller, in case he wakes up. Yesterday I decided to read a bit and guys, this was probably the highlight of my week LOL. Swimming with my baby, relaxing in the pool while he napped, and then reading on top of it! Just add in some turkey sandwiches, watermelon, and sweet tea. I’d call that a Perfect Summer Day.

As for a little update,

Oh my goodness. My little baby boy has officially begun standing up. When I turned to look at him today and he was up on two legs holding on to the couch and the remote LOL.

I can’t get over how big he is or how fast he is growing. This morning, I shared a cucumber stick with him. I had a bite, then he had a “bite/nibble”. I have a little baby, well a big baby. I am so blessed to be his Mama.

Watching him get bigger and stronger makes me look at myself and my habits. I want to be the best version of myself for him. I want to eat healthier and work out more and just pursue a happy me. He deserves that. I’m not going to go super strict or anything, I’ll probably still love a glass of Pepsi when we’re out (or maybe not). But, I am going to get better. I’ve already started. No processed junk in the house, no sodas etc. And I’ve been working on replacing our “normal” things with things like OrganiX, Provamel, and lots more of the fruits and veggies that we really do love eating. I’m hoping that this will lead to me begin making healthier eating choices and my son making healthy eating choices as he grows up.

I’m telling y’all, this Little Man stands up all the time now and … All. Over. The. Place. He pulls himself up on the couch in our living room, on the little side tables, on his crib railing, I mean anywhere he can. It is so nerve wracking but so amazing at the same time. Oh how I love my little man. He makes every single day so much more. More fun, more exciting, more happy, just more of all the good stuff. Sometimes a little more exhausting, more chaotic, and more loud too. But y’all I wouldn’t trade being his mama for anything.

I guess that’s about all that’s on my mind today. Baby Boy will be waking up soon and we will be… you guessed it! Heading to the pool 🙂 Then we will come back for some lunch, another nap, and some play time. Let me know – Is it time to swim for you guys yet?

I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday!

Love,

~ Ray
