Valentine’s Day
can have such a stigma attached to it sometimes. I’ll be honest y’all, I love Valentine’s Day. It’s so fun. Another opportunity to bake, heart-shaped everything of course and all the lovey-dovey feels. Even if you’re just chilling at home with your girlfriends celebrated “Galentines” together, there’s just something in the air.
I remember the best Valentine’s Day of my life.
My husband, then boyfriend, planned such an amazing day for us. When I woke up, he surprised me with a new body wash from Bath & Body Works and a new cozy towel set from my favorite shop that he had laid out on the bed. He told me to hop into the bathroom and enjoy my morning. 🙂 When I came out of the bathroom, he had made us breakfast. Well, he had run out to Chick-Fil-A and gotten us the heart-shaped biscuits they have on Valentine’s Day and he had a fruit tray from Bi-Lo, and it sure made me a happy lady because I LOVE Chick-Fil-A and I love fruit trays! 🙂 He had bought some beautiful flowers and they were sitting in a vase on the table when I came into the kitchen.
After we had our breakfast,
we got dressed in workout clothes and headed up to the mountains. On the drive, we sang our favorite songs, laughed a lot, and talked about memories from our time together. It was great. Once we got into the mountains, we went to one of our favorite trails and hiked to the overlook. This is something that we both enjoyed doing as often as we could. When we got up there, we sat for a bit and just looked out over the tops of the trees below us. When I turned to look at him, he had pulled a ring box out and was just looking at me waiting for me to realize it lol. He said “Happy Valentine’s Day” and opened the box. Inside was a beautiful white gold ring with 3 little diamonds. He said it was a “past, present, and future” promise ring. This was such a sweet moment and I will always remember it fondly. We refer to this ring as my promise ring and I still wear it every day on my right ring finger. <3
Once we had finished hiking, we headed back home and by this time, it was about 3 or 4pm. We both showered and got dressed for dinner. My hubby (BF) had made reservations for us at a new Japanese restaurant in town and I was beyond excited. I have always loved Japanese food so going to this new place was so exciting and I was happy to find that the food was absolutely delicious! The sushi was amazing and my mouth still waters thinking about their hibachi chicken!
After dinner, we went to Starbucks. Now, some people may not think of this as romantic but trust me, it was.
For starters, we both love Starbucks and we both don’t drink alcoholic drinks so we use to spend a lot of time just hanging out together at our local Starbucks. It was kind of “our thing”. When we got there, there was a bouquet of red roses sitting at “our” couch area. He had planned ahead and told the staff there to have the roses ready for when we came in. Our favorite drinks were ready for us and there was a heart shaped chocolate chip cookie, my favorite, sitting on the coffee table.
This was the best Valentine’s Day I could have asked for.
We have celebrated many V-Day’s together but this one was extra special I suppose because it was when my love surprised me with my promise ring, which was kind of a symbol that there would soon be an engagement ring and then a wedding ring. Which there was lol. And now we are married with a little baby boy.
What was your favorite Valentine’s Day? Let me know in the comments!

The best days usually come out of small gestures, with lots of conversation and laughter. Isn’t it great? My very first real date was at a McDonald’s, but we had laughs and conversation and the time slipped away so fast. I wouldn’t exchange it for the world.
Yes, those kind of dates really are the best. That’s great that you had such a memorable very first date 🙂
