Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Let me just say right now, if you don’t like Valentine’s Day, this post might not be for you lol.
I LOVE Valentine’s Day.
Not because “it’s the one day a year when you get to show your significant other how much you think of them.” I believe you should show your significant other how much they mean to you throughout the year, just random days make these moments so special. Valentine’s Day is just the one day when these kinds of actions are really encouraged and let’s face it… expected.
Men, this is important, so listen (or read) very carefully!
* If a woman says not to get or do anything for her on Valentine’s Day, don’t be fooled! There may be about 2% of women who say this and actually mean it.*
My advice to you, make her a card, take her to dinner, bring her breakfast in bed. If she doesn’t want you spending money, still, DO SOMETHING! Trust me there are super boyfriend/husband “points” in there for the guys who still show effort even if your lady says don’t.
Now, Ladies, you listen too.
* Guys need to feel appreciated. Even if they don’t show it or ask for it, it makes them feel good to know that you acknowledge all they do.*
That being said, here is my personal list of things I believe y’all will love. Whether you are looking for your guy or girl, I’m sure there’s something here for everyone 🙂
Perfect for the GUY or GIRL in your life
Obviously – Gift Cards depending on what they like.
Starbucks, Restaurants, Lowe’s, Home Depot, Bath & Body Works, World Market etc.
For the cook in the family how about a brand new Cast Iron Skillet, Crock Pot, Cook Book, or Apron.
For the ladies, jewelry is always a good idea.
Guys, Pay attention to what she already wears, don’t get anything that can be seen from space if your girl likes subtle, “kisses” of jewelry.
A nice new coat/jacket is always a good idea in these freezing temps!
Maybe North Face or Columbia
A new wallet for guys or a new bag for ladies.
As for bags – You do you in this department. I just know my hubby (then fiance) got me a Michael Kors bag for my birthday one year and it was such a special gift. I still have and use this bag. They are timeless and big department stores (like Macy’s or Dillard’s may approve you for a store credit card and you can pay it off over several months)
Last but not least, for either a girl or a guy, plan something you can DO together.
Go for a drive to the mountains, or to the beach if you’re tired of the cold. Get tickets to a concert, go out for a fun dinner (or a romantic dinner).
I wanted to throw number six in the mix because of my personal experience. Our third Valentine’s Day together, my hubby and I drove to Florida because we were seriously over the cold and wanted a break. We drove down over Valentine’s weekend. We stayed 1 night in a really nice hotel. We went to dinner at Mellow Mushroom, which was great because we have the same favorite food, Pizza! We bought some chocolate covered strawberries from Walmart and enjoyed our evening in our hotel room. The next morning (after checkout at 11am) we walked along the beach and later that afternoon we went to the Jacksonville Zoo! They had a special going on so if you bought 1 ticket then you got 1 free for Valentine’s Day!
It was such a blast and one of my favorite Valentine’s Day memories. It’s not always about what you buy. Memories are the best gift of all.
Happy Valentine’s Day to you and your Valentine.
Lot’s of Love,
